Sorana Cîrstea (born November 18, 1985) is a Romanian professional tennis player. Her career-high singles ranking is world no. 28, which she achieved on October 21, 2011. She won her first WTA Tour title in 2012 at the Nürnberger Versicherungscup defeating Andrea Hlaváčková in the final and reached her second final of the year at the Topshelf Open, where she lost to Simona Halep in three sets. Sorana’s best result so far was reaching the semifinals of Wimbledon as a qualifier back in 2007 and 2009, respectively. In the 2012 French Open, she reached the third round before losing to Maria Sharapova.
