Reena Abdulrahman has bagged Outstanding Performer Award in Travel Industry

Oman-based travel industry professional Reena Abdulrahman has been adjudged Outstanding Performer in Travel Industry’ conferred as part of the Women Icon Awards this year. Reena, who is the Chief Operating officer (COO) of AlHind, one of the world renowned Travel company , with presence cutting across continents, began her career in aviation  with Qatar Airways in Doha on 01-01-2001 till 2008 and then  worked  with Air Arabia in UAE and with Oman’s national airline Salam Air.

Born and brought up in Thrissur in Kerala (India), Reena had a semi-rural upbringing in her native state, but her parents facilitated her higher studies and groomed her in such a way that she had the willpower and courage to be an independent professional and take wings to a wider world. She is blessed with two boys Adnan and Ayan .

“From aviation /airlines  Flight Operations  to travel industry was an unexpected  change for my career, just inspired by Mohammed Haris, the chairman of Alhind. The brand AlHind Tours and Travels, headquartered in Kerala,  it maintains great ethical standards,” she says. The company, which began in a humble manner in the town of Calicut in Kerala in 1993, tells the story of two thick friends, Valsaraj P V and T Muhammed Haris, who had their willpower as capital, when they decided to take a plunge. Those were the days when the big players in the travel and tourism industry had focused on the metropolitan cities and no one could even imagine that a small town had such a possibility. However, the two young men were confident and began the operation of the new venture from a single room. That is the story of Alhind Tours & Travels Pvt. Ltd, which grew into a global player in the travel and tourism industry over the years. That friendship grew thicker every day, and today Valsaraj is the Managing Director of Alhind Group of Companies of which Haris is the chairman. The dream sprouted in a single-room is today a global enterprise with Rs.5000-crore revenue and business presence , Africa, Asia and more, including India, Gulf countries, Bangladesh  and Somaliland. AlHind is a one-stop-shop for everyone’s travel needs and it regularly updates itself.

Even during the tough times of Covid-19, AlHind successfully overcame the challenges posed by the pandemic. In a sense, the challenges brought the company closer than ever and it fought against the odds not just as a business group but as an extended family, according to her. It was this feeling of integrity that gave AlHind the confidence to expand further and spread wings to new verticals.

It is through Alhind  I learned the lessons about travel industry which is far from Aviation industry, Like my parents, it gave me the courage to take wings, thus resulting in such global recognitions as the Outstanding Performer in Travel Industry’

Conferred as part of the Women Icon Awards, which celebrate the achievement of the women globally,” asserts Reena, who is a hardcore professional with a creative bend of mind. She loves music and writing.

She said the Outstanding Performer award is a great honor and recognition, and thanked Women Icon Powered by Times Women and World Women Council from the core of her heart for selecting her for this coveted award.

“This unexpected honor places me a higher pedestal and I feel humbled at the same time more responsible to achieve more and give more to my organization and the travel industry at large,” she said, adding that this is a great honor for AlHind at large, especially chairman Mohammed Haris, who is the brain of Alhind Tours and Travels, and also Managing Director P.V Valsaraj, the greatest inspiration and strength in stamping the travel company’s indomitable presence in the industry.
