S.B Fathima Farwin has bagged Young Entrepreneur Award

I am Fathima Farwin from Mawanella, Sri Lanka. Which is a beautiful country fully surrounded by sea with many resources, also formerly called Serendib and Ceylon as well. I am proud to introduce myself as a successful entrepreneur solely due to my passion and dedication. After completing my higher studies I had a thirst for exploring fashion related things and it was my prime target to be an entrepreneur rather than an employee. It gives me immense pleasure and motivates me to find new things related to fashion.

I started my business initially as a fashion designer targeting a niche market, where I used to buy and sell fashion clothing called Aabayas, scarfs, veils and related cosmetics to Muslims, since I found a vacuum in our area. Having joined with my loving husband it gave me real courage in facing challenges and his guidance and dedication in sharing my workload including my family related tasks have really helped me to reach this milestone.

It’s not an easy thing to satisfy the expectations of customers; it’s not a simple thing to persuade customers to buy certain products. I must be very genuine and I should have to take certain bold decisions at times whether it’s right or wrong. If you are incapable of meeting the expectations of customers, you are simply out of the market along with negative comments which would ruin the image of the business. Considering the above facts I thought of expanding my business into the areas of party frocks, wedding frocks and shalwars for ladies and then Oleana (Pvt) Ltd was established in the year 2010.

Human Resource Management is a real challenge as it’s concerned with dealing with people and not with machines, so it requires very good leadership skills, and management skills to retain the skilled workers, motivate the existing staff and also to secure the image and specially to maintain business secrets confidential. For this purpose I always use a democratic leadership style. But depending on the situations it too changes.

My dedication and determination have also made my long awaited dream become true as I was able to start my flagship stores in the city of London. To land here the main reasons, my travel experiences I had with my husband, As I used to visit many countries like Dubai, India, Thailand frequently, I could easily study about the new trends, and find areas to develop, Though “Oleana Pvt Ltd UK” is at its growth stage I am pretty sure that it would reach to a leading stores shortly in the future. I feel really excited as I got selected for the “Young Entrepreneur” Award from one of the leading and prestigious organizations. I am so humble to the organizers of this event and wish to extend my heartfelt thanks for offering me this great recognition.
