Rathadevi K.Rajah Has Won Women Icon of the Year

Good day and Salam Sejahtera!

I’m Rathadevi K. Rajah, born in Kuala Lumpur but raised in Selangor State, Malaysia. I was born on March 2nd. I’ve done my primary, secondary, and higher secondary schooling in Shah Alam, in the capital city of Selangor.

On September 29, 2009, I joined the civil service at the age of 26 as a Court Interpreter for Malay and English languages. My first posting was in the High Court of Kuala Lumpur at Jalan Duta. Currently, I’m working at the High Court of Shah Alam. My dream job has been to join the civil service since I was young. During my career, I’ve handled a diversity of cases from civil and criminal jurisdictions, including Magistrates, Sessions, and the High Court. There are challenges in handling a few cases, one of which should be highlighted in the year 2015, in which I was assigned to read 219 charge sheets for the accused, which took nearly 2 hours to complete without any break. It was a very demanding, challenging, and testing experience. Furthermore, I’m an award-winning interpreter for outstanding performance for the year 2016. As of today, I have 14 years of service in the civil service, and I love serving in the civil service for my beloved country.

On the other hand, in September 2012, I enrolled in the Bachelor of English Studies at Open University Malaysia on a part-time basis. It is not easy to work full-time and study part-time, but I enjoyed it due to my passion for both. Therefore, in 2019, I successfully completed my bachelor's degree and graduated.

In April 2020, I decided to pursue postgraduate studies in Master of Corporate Communication at University Putra Malaysia. A master's degree is not the same as a bachelor's degree, which requires much more attention and time to do research. I enrolled during the COVID-19 pandemic, and I was able to utilise the lockdown period wisely. On the other hand, after the lockdown is over, I am able to manage my time between work, studies, and family. The fruitful event happened on November 30, 2023, last year, in which I graduated with flying colors with a CGPA of 3.769/4.0. My convocation took place at the Chancellor Hall, University Putra Malaysia.

Eventually, through my dynamic personality, goal-oriented, determined, discipline, strong analytical ability, and passion for achieving a challenging position that allows me to contribute meaningful contributions to the civil service, I acquired a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree while working a full-time job.

I would like to thank the Almighty God for his abundant blessings. I also wish to express my heartfelt thanks to Women Icon, powered by Times Women, for selecting my profile for the ‘’Women Vision Builder Award'', and I believe it is not an easy process. At the same time, I wish to extend my congratulations to Women Icon for their effort to organise such a magnificent and splendacious event in order to recognize and give recognition to competent women. Last but not least, I wish to extend my gratitude to my family for their continuous and tremendous support.

I would like to take this opportunity to write a few lines of poetry about my beloved country, in which I’ve penned down myself.

Bunga Raya bunga kebangsaan,

Menjadi lambang kebanggaan,

Aman dan damai negaraku Malaysia,

Negara yang kaya dengan kemakmuran di Asia.

Biru lambang perpaduan,

Putih lambang kesucian,

Rakyat Malaysia berbilang bangsa dan agama,

Hidup harmoni dan sejahtera.

Thank you and terima kasih.

Regards,
