My Story

I am Man?ori Priyanka Ranadeera. I am from Kandy ( central province) , one of the beautiful cities of Sri Lanka.

And, now I am currently living in Colombo.

I am the second child in my family and I was born in kandy. I got married in 1993 and got my first child in 1994.

After getting married I shifted to my husband’s hometown Rattota.We lived in Rattota for nearly 10 to 12 years. I was a housewife and I was responsible only for the household work.

But, due to some of the financial problems my husband had to migrate to Australia in 2004.

After the absence of my husband I had the responsibility to do all the family work and my daughters work. But, our main priority was to provide a better education to my daughter because she is the only child in my family.

Further, we decided that rather than living in Matale we should move to Colombo, because Colombo is more convenient to provide better education in Sri Lanka.

Therefore, finally we moved to Colombo and lived in an Apartment for around 6 years and we purchased our own house in Kelaniya and shifted to our own house in 2010.

So, after a few days I talked about starting up my own business with my daughter and my husband and they didn’t believe me that I would come with an idea of starting a Pre- School.

Anyways, after all the discussions, finally, it was the day of starting my Pre- School and Daycare center.

In the beginning of the Montessori we didn’t have children, but, after one week we enrolled our first kid and after that we received so many enrollments and the number of Montessori and daycare kids raised.

Moreover, I have received an award from the pre school department of Sri Lanka for becoming the one of the best Montessori’s in Kelaniya and Kiribathgoda division.

Also, recently I received the title of Doctor by getting awarded the Honorary doctorate “Doctor of Education '' from the University of Peace Uk. This was given for me based on the experience and for all the good deeds I have done in my career for around 10 years.

Further, reviving the Doctorate was also another great achievement I have achieved in my life. Further, I also believe as a Woman I have fulfilled all the responsibilities about my daughter as well. Since, she is a Bachelors and Masters Graduate and currently living in New Zealand.

About my Organization

Discussing about the overall organization. My Pre- School and Daycare center is located in the heart of Kiribathgoda.. We are a three storey building and the first floor is for our Pre- School and the second floor is for our Daycare center.

From the beginning of Montessori we did the local syllabus in English medium.

Further, we specifically have three grades named as : Playgroup, lower kindergarten, Upper kindergarten. We enroll kids from one and half years to our playgroup and we 3 years upwards for our LKG and UKG classes.

Playgroup is the one of the funniest and cutest classes in our Montessori. Because, we do so many activities such as : crafting, drawing, coloring, singing, dancing etc. Therefore, the majority of the kids are very attractive to our Playgroup class.

LKG and UKG classes are all about learning to write letters, reading, and we can call those two classes the foundation classes for their school. But, we always try to teach kids both books as well as other curriculum activities.

Because for all the teaching methods and for other activities now my Montessori has ranked as the 1st in our kelaniya, Kiribathgoda division.

Further, we have all the qualified teachers for Montessori who have completed their early childhood education diplomas and degrees.

Further, we do have experienced daycare staff along with the teachers to look after our daycare children.

Further, my main priority is not only to provide the education, but also to contribute to different volunteer and charity activities.

During the past 10 years I have provided free education to more than 20 small kids from our Montessori.

Further, during the Covid -19 pandemic the majority of the Montessori’s were closed due to the lack of children and I donated 50 packs of all the food items such as: rice, dhal etc ( each pack costs 5000) for selected poor teachers around the kelaniya and Kiribathgoda division.

This year I donated 200 packs of all the school equipments with school books, shoes etc for 200 poor children around Gampaha district.

We conduct a blood donation program every year at our Montessori premises free of charge and whoever wants to join can join.

Moreover, we have visited so many regions to donate school books and food items for many families during the past few years.

Therefore, I believe that becoming an entrepreneur is not all about earning and gaining profits. We should also be involved in different volunteer and charity programs.

Doing all this work and helping as much as I can provides me ultimate happiness and all the charity and volunteer work will be fully sponsored by myself. I love my job and also I love to help people as much as I can.

Not, last but least , I would like to thank my husband, my daughter and son in law for the immense support they gave me from the beginning of my career. They always help me and stay back of me to support all my achievements in life.

Further, I would like to thank my staff for supporting me immensely to make our Montessori the best from all the others.

Thoughts about the Recognition “Womens Icon Awards”

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude about the achievement I have achieved through “Womens Icon Awards”.

Firstly, I would like to say that this award is something that I didn’t expect. It was a surprise that I received about the Women's Icon Awards through a message on my WhatsApp. After receiving the message I told my husband and daughter there is an award ceremony and I also would like to participate. They also went on a search and told me it’s a great opportunity, you should participate and win an award.
