I am Dr. Shobana Supramaniam, a medical doctor attached with KPJ Klang Specialist Hospital - one of the leading private healthcare centre in Malaysia.
I’ve always wanted to practice medicine as I’m very passionate about it, especially serving people.
I’ve always loved what I’m doing and I get utmost satisfaction and pleasure doing my job.
Coming from a middle class family, I decided to study medicine without any fear and successfully completed my MBBS in 2014. I am the youngest daughter in the family and always been loved and supported by parents and sisters.
My late father’s quote gave me all the hopes when I was studying.
“Hold on to something till you never want to let it go.”
His words kept my dreams of becoming a doctor going and despite the struggles faced throughout the journey, I graduated from Mahsa University. To add to that, it was also a proud moment for me as I was from the very first batch of MBBS to graduate from the university.
I was serving the Government sector up until 2019 and later joined this prestigious and esteemed Hospital in 2019 after the delivery of my second born.
Being a mother of two loving adorable children, things wasn’t easy and the journey was indeed challenging. I learned a lot from my children and my husband to be who I am today.
Later, I pursued Occupational Health and Safety Programme and completed in 2020. I then started practicing Occupational Health in the same Hospital.
In 2021, after being promoted as Head of Health Screening Centre, I decided to pursue my Master and began my MBA journey. I completed my MBA in December 2022 and graduated in 2023 from Veritas University.
Throughout this challenging yet exciting jounrney, I’ve learned a lot and many have been an inspiration, and I take every day as a learning point.
Thank you so much Women Icon for giving me this opportunity and allowing me to shine brighter.
To all the females out there, wake up daily and think of the purpose of being in this world.
There is nothing impossible that a female can’t do or make it. Just like the Adidas saying “Impossible is Nothing”.
Societal status should not stop someone from learning or pursuing their dreams.
Dream high, work hard and shine bright. Leave it to the Almighty and God knows the rest.
Lastly, thank you so much to all my loved ones for being a great support.
My dreams, passion and work is not going to stop here. I want to continue this journey, help for people and become more successful.
I am 36 this year and by the age of 40, I would like to start my own organisation in the name of “FOR WOMEN” to guide those females coming from the below middle class group to ensure they also can have and lead a bright future.
Let’s make the difference.
Thank you.
