Anna Helene Paquin ( born July 24, 1982) is a New Zealand actress of Canadian descent. Paquin’s first successful film, The Piano, earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 11 in 1994, making her the second-youngest recipient in Academy Award history. Her acting career took off over half a decade later, with roles in films such as She’s All That, Almost Famous, and the X-Men trilogy.
Paquin earned a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series in 2008 for her depiction of Sookie Stackhouse in the HBO series True Blood, for which she gained critical praise.
