Figueres is a global leader in the fight against climate change, and is best known as being one of the key players in the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement.
She is founder of the Global Optimism group and the author of The Future We Choose: Surviving the Climate Crisis, which she published in 2020.
In 2010, she was appointed the executive secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Figueres was inducted into Earth Hall of Fame in Kyoto, Japan, in 2019, and has received numerous other awards and accolades for her work in climate justice.
In January 2021, she joined the board of directors of plant-based protein company Impossible Foods.
