She is noted for portraying dark characters who are out of the ordinary. Ricci has been nominated for a Golden Globe, Primetime Emmy, Screen Actors Guild, Independent Spirit Award, and a National Board of Review Award for Best Supporting Actress and a Satellite Award for Best Actress.
Ricci made her film debut at nine in Mermaids (1990) and then starred as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family (1991) and its sequel. Her subsequent roles in Casper and Now and Then (1995) cemented her reputation as a “teen idol.” With The Ice Storm (1997), she transitioned into adult roles at 17, leading to appearances in films such as Buffalo ’66, Pecker, and The Opposite of Sex (all 1998). She received critical acclaim for her roles in Sleepy Hollow (1999) and Monster (2001). (2003).
